Florida PsychoanalytiC Institute

The Florida Psychoanalytic Institute offers training in adult psychoanalysis to qualified mental health professionals and to selected scholars, educators and other professionals for the purpose of enhancing work in their field. The Institute is accredited by the American Psychoanalytic Association and it maintains the standards set forth by the Board on Professional Standards of that organization. Psychoanalytic education and training has three required components:

  1. A personal analysis with a training analyst conducted at a frequency of at least four sessions per week
  2. A didactic curriculum consisting of a scheduled series of seminars over a period of four to five years
  3. The supervision of at least three psychoanalytic treatments each conducted at a frequency of at least four times per week.

Our faculty consistently strives to provide our psychoanalytic candidates with an excellent education in an atmosphere of mutual respect and open intellectual inquiry. Graduates of the Institute are well prepared to be leaders in the psychoanalytic community. Upon graduation they are eligible to become members of the American Psychoanalytic Association and the International Psychoanalytical Association, as well as Active Members of the Florida Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.
